Pilot episode reportedly has been filmed for new WWE NXT EVOLVE show
In December, there were reports that WWE was considering a second NXT show that would focus on Performance Center signees trying to make it to the NXT roster.
Fightful reported on Wednesday, and it was later confirmed by F4WOnline the new show is another step closer coming into fruition with a tentative title of NXT EVOLVE that will have heavy involvement with EVOLVE founder Gabe Sapolsky and Jeremy Borash.
Fightful also indicated the tapings had more of a “fight” feel and were held in a warehouse which was temporarily used when the Performance Center in Orlando, FL was not available during the COVID-19 pandemic. Josiah Williams was the host along with new graphics. It is being said that there is even a title belt already created with the NXT EVOLVE branding on it.
F4WOnline also confirmed that a pilot episode has been filmed. However, there are no further details at this time.
According to the F4WOnline report, Sapolosky tweeted the following on Wednesday evening:
“Everything is a team effort at NXT. Everything is fluid and fluctuates. My name doesn’t belong attached to anything like I’m running another independent promotion. Thank you.”
It is also being said the original plan for the show as is to provide those in developmental more opportunity to work given that there no timetable for a return to touring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also not known whether the project has been given a green-light for full production with announcers or if it will air on the WWE Network or another platform.
WWE purchased EVOLVE in July of last year. However, EVOLVE talent were not included as part of the acquisition by WWE.
