NY Times lists MJF’s performance on “Le Dinner Debonair” among Best Performances of 2020
The New York Times has put out its Best of 2020 list that includes best movies, TV shows, and performances.
AEW’s MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman) was listed alongside some high profile actors and actresses for his performance in Le Dinner Debonair.
Back on the October 21st episode of Dynamite, the segment aired featuring MJF and Chris Jericho. It started with them topping each other while ordering steaks and how the steaks would be cooked. There was a tense moment until they started signing.
Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Wesley Morris put over MJF for his talent and even took a jab at Vince McMahon.
“Some weeks the athleticism at this professional wrestling start-up [AEW] is more exciting than anything happening in Vince McMahon’s empire. And no one in the WWE has this kid’s combination of diction (Juilliard by way of Long Island), intensity or cheesiness, either.”
Morrison stated that Jericho and MJF doing a rendition of Me and My Shadow was ‘less than spectacular.’ But he did credit MJF for making it so memorable.
MJF beat Jericho at AEW Full Gear last month to join the Inner Circle.
AEW has already announced that MJF will defend his Dynamite Diamond Ring against Orange Cassidy on next Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
