Backstage news on plans for Melina’s WWE return, why those plans were scrapped

A couple of months ago, there were plans for Melina to return to WWE TV but those plans have apparently been scrapped.

We were told that she would be on the Raw brand but, according to Johnny Fairplay at PWTorch.com, there were plans for her to be on the NXT brand.

In a Twitter exchange back in July, Melina accepted an invitation to join his Robert Stone Brand. Fairplay said he hung out with Stone a couple of weeks ago and there were plans for Melina to join him. Fairplay said that Stone told him two weeks ago that it was his idea to manage Melina in NXT but apparently she had to get surgery so those plans were scrapped.

“I hung out with Robbe E two weeks ago and he has no idea what he’s going to do,” Stone said. “His plan was to bring in Melina and manage in NXT. She had to have surgery or something. They’re not using the guy.”

Melina left WWE in 2011 and she got back on the company’s radar when she appeared at the Raw Reunion show in 2019. There’s no word on if there are still plans for Melina to return to WWE.
