According to a new recent report from F4WOnline, one of the ideas WWE had for Adam Cole to move him up to the main roster and become a manager for a heel Keith Lee.
It was said that this was either Vince McMahon’s idea or Bruce Prichard’s idea.
Cole became a free agent at the end of last month his short NXT contract extension expired.
It was also noted that in an effort to keep him and promote him to the main WWE roster after a four year run in NXT, Cole met with McMahon. It’s believed that is where the Manager idea was proposed.
The report further noted that McMahon was looking for a “similar dynamic” to what Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush had where Rush (the manager) would talk big but hide behind the bigger Lashley when things got physical. It was also believed that WWE would have likely changed Cole’s last name due to announcer Michael Cole.
Adam Cole debuted with at last Sunday’s AEW All Out PPV, rejoining The Elite at the end of the PPV. He also made his Dynamite debut this past Wednesday, and will make his in-ring debut next Wednesday in Newark, NJ against Frankie Kazarian.
