WWE superstar Sami Zayn took aim at Donald Trump and compared him to the archetypal wrestling villain.

The current Intercontinental Champion – whose deluded in-character ramblings have typified his run on Raw and SmackDown over the past few years – admitted the outgoing president has annoyed him for one ‘petty reason’ in particular.

Tweeting after Joe Biden was projected to win the US election, Sami wrote: ‘One petty reason I dislike Trump is that he has infringed on my gimmick of being a delusional, cowardly heel.

‘Not even joking. So much of the arrogance, paranoia, victimhood & denial that has long been the language of the heel wrestler is now attributed to him & it p***es me off.’

Joe Biden has been named President of the United States after beating Trump to the necessary 270 electoral college votes.

Biden will be inaugurated as the 46th president of the US in January, with Pennsylvania’s 20 votes pushing him over the line.

Multiple news agencies – including the likes of BBC, CNN and the New York Times – have called the result, while some states are still yet to declare a final count.

Zayn wasn’t the only wrestling star to weigh in on the result, as WWE legend CM Punk was amongst those to take to social media after the news broke.

The former champion shared a photoshopped picture of his big title win at Money In The Bank 2011, when he blew a kiss to Vince McMahon and hopped the barrier with the gold in hand.

He replaced himself with Biden in the snap, and shared it as a response to Vince’s wife Linda McMahon, who previously served as a member of Trump’s cabinet, and had tweeted a message of support for the outgoing president.

Meanwhile, plenty of wrestling fans have been sharing a clip of Trump being hit by a Stone Cold Stunner.

There’s no video-editing wizardry here – this actually happened during the much-hyped Battle of the Billionaires, which saw Trump and WWE owner Vince McMahon represented by Bobby Lashley and Umaga respectively at WrestleMania 23 in 2007.

Lashley won the match, which meant McMahon got his head shaved – but the exclamation point saw Donald take Steve Austin’s signature move.
