WWE called an audible during the women’s four-way match on Friday Night SmackDown
WWE was forced to call an audible on Friday night when Chelsea Green was injured in the Four-Way match.
As previously noted, the entire script was scrapped earlier in the day and the show that aired on Friday was not what was planned as of Thursday night.
Ringside News reports Liv Morgan was originally booked to win the match in the original script.
However, those plans changed and Green was booked to win the match when the script was revised on Friday. Green would have gotten a spot on the women’s SmackDown Survivor Series team. Due to her injury, they called an audible during the match and then went with the original plan to have Morgan win and get the spot on the women’s team at Survivor Series.
RSN also reports that Green’s debut was not a last-minute deal because she had to be tested for COVID-19 to be cleared to be on the show. The decision to have her debut on SmackDown was said to have been made during Wednesday night’s meeting.
It’s not clear when Green will be cleared to wrestle again but she’s likely done for the rest of this year since she underwent surgery for a broken wrist.
