Tony Khan to make an “historic announcement” on this Wednesday’s Dynamite
The news making the rounds Thursday and Friday, was that AEW CEO and President Tony Khan was potentially planning to make a “massive announcement” on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. Khan has said last Wednesday that he wasn’t sure if he was able to make the announcement due to a non-disclosure agreement, but was hopeful. He also noted this is like the First Dance, which is when AEW sold-out the United Center for CM Punk’s debut in the company.
On Friday, Khan spoke on the Florida-Times Union Podcast on Friday to confirm that he will be making a “historic announcement” at Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite live from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.
Khan said the following on the podcast:
“I’m going to make a historic announcement at the show in Jacksonville, which I’m really excited about, and it’s only the beginning to a great week on the road to the Revolution pay-per-view.”
During his appearance on Friday’s Busted Open Radio prior to his interview with the Florida-Times Union, Khan said the announcement is not just about one particular piece of talent, but rather something that will impact the entire industry.
Khan said the on Busted Open Radio:
“I have a huge announcement coming and nobody knows what it is. It’s going to be something very important in the wrestling business. It’s not just one particular piece of talent; it’s something very special. I’m really excited about it and I believe it is something we will be in a position to announce on Wednesday.”
There has been much speculation around the internet as to what the announcement could be. Fans have been saying everything from it being a partnership with Shane McMahon, a SuperShow with of some kind, and the purchase of Ring of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling.
