The Rock shared WrestleMania idea with Nick Khan in January

It turns out that back in January, The Rock had suggested a storyline involving Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, with himself playing the role of a heel, for WrestleMania XL.

The WWE legend recounted how he had called his friend and WWE President Nick Khan at the beginning of the year with his pitch. “Back in January, I called Nick Khan and I said, ‘I have an idea, how about this. Why don’t we take care of the people, give them this story of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns,'” The Rock explained. “Nick said, ‘Great.’ I said, ‘However, a little bit of a twist.’ ‘What’s that?’ ‘What if I became the greatest bad guy of all time?'”

And thus, the stage was set for what is now the main event of night one of WrestleMania XL, where The Rock and Roman Reigns will face off against Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin’” Rollins. The following night, Reigns and Rhodes will once again collide, this time with the WWE Universal Championship on the line.
