A beloved Japanese legend who graced the legendary WrestleMania stage has sadly departed from this world.

This week, the Japanese media shared the heartbreaking news of the passing of the iconic sumo legend, K-1 fighter, and pro wrestling sensation, Akebono.

Akebono Tarō, known in his personal life as Chadwick Haheo Rowan, breathed his last due to heart failure after bravely fighting illness for a prolonged period.

Suffering from heart complications since 2017, he was hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma, battling to overcome the odds.

For fans of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Akebono’s unforgettable moment came in his triumph over Big Show in a monumental sumo match at WrestleMania 21. His legacy extended beyond WWE, as he engaged in memorable encounters with the likes of Brock Lesnar in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and clinched the prestigious All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) Triple Crown Championship. Moreover, he attained the esteemed title of Yokozuna, signifying his status as a Grand Champion in the world of sumo wrestling.

At the time of his passing, Akebono was 54 years old, leaving behind a void in the hearts of many who admired and respected him.

Our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family and friends of the legendary Akebono during this difficult time.
