Rhea Ripley finishing up with WWE NXT?
Last night on WWE NXT, Io Shirai successfully defended her NXT Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley.
Shirai got a clean pin which may give some the impression that Ripley is done with NXT and she’s getting moved up to the main roster. This was talked about on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez.
Meltzer said, “my impression is from watching [the match] is that Rhea is going to the main roster.”
Ripley was one of the biggest stars on the brand earlier this year but her push cooled off since WrestleMania and it looks like there are no plans to take the title off of Shirai right now.
Meltzer added, “I just think this is the way to just finish up the story because even the way that they hugged and everything at the end. I could be wrong and no one has told me but I have definitely heard talk of Rhea Ripley going to the main roster.”
If she is moving up then a good time to have her debut would be on Sunday at the Survivor Series as a late replacement. Again, nothing is confirmed on Ripley moving up to the roster but her clean loss last night would lead some to conclude that a main roster move is imminent.
