John Cena is talking about the possibility of having one final run in WWE. The wrestling legend, who has also made a name for himself in Hollywood, made an appearance on the Pat McAfee show after this weekend’s WrestleMania XL event. Cena made a surprise appearance on night two of the event, helping Cody Rhodes defeat Roman Reigns and win the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.
During the conversation, the topic of Cena wrestling again and potentially winning his 17th world championship came up. Cena made it clear that his cameo at WrestleMania 40 would not be the last time he wears his signature jorts.
“I’ve thought a lot about when I should retire the jorts, but it wasn’t last night. I still have some gas left in the tank,”
Cena went on to explain his plans for retirement, stating that he always intended to retire from wrestling around the age of 50, and he is turning 47 soon.
“When I feel like I can no longer perform at the level of the product, that’s when I know it’s time to step away. The toughest part is that I love it so much. I have set a deadline for myself at 50, but I think it may happen before that. So here’s some breaking news for you – I’ll be 47 in a few weeks.”
He then revealed to McAfee and the fans that once he completes his filming commitments this winter, he may ask Hollywood to slow down so he can have one final run with WWE.
“Filming Peacemaker season two will take us through Christmas, and I’m hoping that I can take a break from Hollywood and come back to WWE for one last run.”
