Former WWE star returns to Ring Of Honor
Several months after being let go by WWE, Mike Bennett is back in Ring of Honor.
The ending of the latest episode of the weekly ROH TV show saw Bennett make his return to the promotion. It happened after Matt Taven defeated Bateman in the main event of this week’s show.
Post-match, Taven was attacked by Bateman. This led to Vincent Marseglia cutting a promo on Taven. Before he could attack him with a dart, the lights went out with Bennett’s music playing. The lights came back on with Bennett in the ring before he made the save for his former tag team partner.
Bennett and Taven hugged to close the show. Of course, these two stars found success together as part of The Kingdom. During their time together, they held the ROH Tag Team titles and NJPW’s IWGP Tag Team Titles.
Taven introduced a new version of The Kingdom in 2016 with Marseglia and TK O’Ryan when Bennett departed from the promotion to join WWE.
Back in April due to budget cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bennett and his wife, Maria Kanellis, were released by WWE.
Since that time, Bennett has been working the United Wrestling Network’s World Championship tournament. He’s slated to take on Chris Dickinson in the finals during a future episode of UWN Primetime Live.
