WWE taping schedule for the holiday season
The holiday season has arrived as Christmas Day and New Year’s Day will on days that WWE airs its television shows.
First up is WWE Monday Night Raw, which won’t face any issues and will remain live every week. The same goes for WWE NXT on Wednesday’s.
The only change will come from Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. As noted, the company will be given SmackDown stars the night off on December 25th. Thus, those wrestlers will be able to spend Christmas Day at home with their families.
The current plan is for this episode to be taped on December 22nd. Regarding the January 1st episode, Pwinsider.com notes the episode will not be taped, but rather air live that night.
There was some speculation as to how WWE would handle its taping schedule this month as they only hold TV events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Monday Night Raw episodes on Christmas night and New Year’s night were live for the first time ever in 2017. However, that was only for that year.
Unlike previous years because of the pandemic, WWE obviously won’t have house shows between Christmas and New Year’s. Typically, WWE would jhold a big live event at Madison Square Garden the day after Christmas.
