Virk made his WWE Raw debut as the lead announcer on April 12, the Raw after WrestleMania 37. Virk had never previously announced a professional wrestling broadcast. Reports stated that Virk had signed a multi-year deal ahead of his debut in April.
According to F4WOnline, Virk was hired in mid-February after an audition with Michael Cole. The hiring did not directly involve Vince McMahon, who only heard the audition tape. Virk met McMahon only after his second live Raw show. Virk was a former client of now WWE President Nick Khan’s talent agency.
Virk replaced Tom Phillips on Raw commentary. Phillips was moved to 205 Live. It is unknown who will replace Virk at this time.
