WWE may have long-term plans for Matt Riddle and Jeff Hardy as a tag team
Jeff Hardy and Matt Riddle have been teaming with each other on WWE television for the last few weeks.
The company has already given them a tag team name, which is Hardy Bros. It appears that WWE has plans for the duo going forward as the company filed a new trademark for “Hardy Bros” on December 23 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office [USPTO].
Typically when WWE does this, it indicates that the pairing is not a short-term thing.
WWE filed the trademark for use in entertainment services, namely performances by a professional wrestler, according to Heel By Nature. The application was added to the trademark office database on December 26.
Here is the full description:
“IC 041: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”
Riddle and Hardy are currently feuding with Raw Tag Team Champions The Hurt Business. Perhaps, WWE will book a title match between these two teams on an upcoming episode of Raw or at next month’s Royal Rumble.
