William Regal’s son Bailey Matthews made his WWE NXT UK debut during Thursday’s new episode that aired on the WWE Network.
Matthews lost to Tyler Bate in his debut match with WWE NXT UK. In the end, Bate hit the Tyler Driver ’97 to get the victory over Matthews. After the match, the two shook hands in a sign of respect.
WWE announced back on January 29 that Matthews had signed with WWE for the NXT UK Brand. WWE noted that Matthews brings a unique style to NXT UK, inspired by his father, WWE NXT General Manager William Regal. However, WWE’s official announcement did not acknowledge that Matthews is the real-life son of Regal.
Prior to signing with WWE, Matthews previously worked independent shows in the United Kingdom, and then went on to train as a Young Lion with New Japan Pro Wrestling last year.
Matthews was interviewed after the match and was asked how he was feeling.
