Trish Stratus: I think Sasha Banks and I might have some unfinished business
Trish Stratus has previously stated that she’s retired from the pro wrestling business, but that hasn’t stopped people from asking her about a possible match with Sasha Banks.
Not only are fans interested in seeing the match happen, but both stars have expressed interest in doing so. Banks has stated in the past that she would love to wrestle Stratus at WWE Evolution 2.
The former WWE Women’s Champion made an appearance on Post Wrestling’s Christmas Show and during it talked about the possible match.
“I mean, I think Sasha Banks and I might have some unfinished business and I say this with much love and respect. It’s like this moment we had at the Royal Rumble so many years ago; it seems like so many years ago now. It’s just like, people have held onto that moment and I watch it back. It’s undeniable [that] there’s definitely this intangible… this energy between us that — it’s a rare thing sometimes that two superstars get in there and you’re like, ‘Ooouuu, I like this,’ and you know, so I respect her so much as a worker, as a person, as a friend and so yeah, I think as a fan and personally, I think that would be an interesting thing to pursue, possibly at some point. Maybe possibly down the line at some point.”
It should be noted that Stratus made an appearance on the Women’s Wrestling Talk podcast earlier this week where she also talked about the possible match.
“Prime or event not prime, I feel like Sasha and I have this thing that fans want to see and deep down, I would want to see. I love her so much and respect her as a person, as an athlete, as a performer, and as a friend. I love what she does in the ring. Sometimes you get in the ring and you have this thing.”
Trish noted that she had the same feeling with Lita, Mickie James, and Victoria. That feeling is knowing when you get into the ring, something is going to happen.
“When we had a simple face-off at Royal Rumble and we’re still buzzing about it how many years later and talking about a dream match. I always said, ever since I retired, if there was an opportunity for me to go back, it would be for something that is challenging, stimulating, the fans want it and it does something for both parties involved. She kinda fits in the bill in that regard. Not that I’m coming back or anything, but Trish Stratus vs. Sasha Banks is a nice dream.”
