Tetsuya Naito has set a new goal for himself. The IWGP World Champion recently had a conversation with Sports Illustrated about the future of NJPW after the departures of Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada, who decided to leave the company for new opportunities. Naito mentioned that he wishes them the best of luck, but he is determined to make them regret their decision.
“Okada and Ospreay are embarking on new challenges, and I genuinely wish them success. However, my focus is on ensuring that they regret leaving New Japan. I will continue to defend my title in main events to prove just that. Some fans may have concerns about the future of New Japan, but with Tetsuya Naito and Los Ingobernables De Japon in the mix, there is no need to worry.”
Ospreay already made the move to AEW in 2023 and will officially join the roster as a full-time member next week. On the other hand, Okada’s future plans are still up in the air, but many speculate that he will also be heading to AEW in the near future.
The wrestling world is on edge, waiting to see how these changes will unfold. Stay tuned for further updates.
