Shawn Spears has been wearing multiple hats since his return to WWE.
After making the switch from AEW back to WWE to join NXT, “The Chairman” has been juggling both in-ring competition and a producer role backstage.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Spears has been pulling double duty since his return to NXT. Alongside his rivalry with Ridge Holland, Spears has also taken on a role as a producer starting from the April 16 episode of the show.
For this week’s episode of NXT on USA, Spears had the opportunity to work closely with NXT producer and coach Johnny Moss backstage at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, FL. He lent a hand with the women’s matches featured on the program.
Joining the ranks of former WWE Superstars turned producers in NXT such as Matt Bloom, Oney Lorcan, and Wesley Blake, Spears seems to be embracing this new responsibility behind the scenes.
It remains uncertain if Spears will follow in the footsteps of Bloom, Lorcan, Blake, and others by transitioning from an active wrestler role to a permanent producer position. Only time will tell, and we will be sure to keep you updated on any developments.
