The National Wrestling Alliance is gearing up for an exciting pay-per-view event in the Sunshine State to start off the New Year.
According to a report by PWInsider.com on Monday, NWA is set to make a return to the Florida market with a PPV event on January 13, 2024. While the specific location is still up in the air, it looks like Fort Lauderdale is the frontrunner and the likely destination for the show.
Sources within NWA have revealed that the promotion saw a fantastic turnout of around 1,000 fans at their TV taping in Sarasota, FL. on November 18. The NWA team was thrilled with the response from the fans (check out the photo above for a glimpse of the action).
During the FTW show in Riverview, FL. on November 18, NWA President Billy Corgan made an appearance and made a significant announcement. He revealed that FTW would now serve as a developmental territory for the NWA in Florida.
However, there was a twist in the storyline. Corgan made it clear that he didn’t want FTW to be part of the NWA system as long as FTW promoter Bryan Idol, also known as Mercurio, held the FTW Champion title. This led to a dramatic sequence of events where Idol was asked to relinquish the title, but he refused. This prompted Damien Fenrir to step up and challenge Idol for the title.
Despite a valiant effort, Idol managed to retain his title with some interference from Anthony Catena. Corgan, unimpressed with the outcome, declared that the deal was off the table as long as Idol held the championship.
In other exciting matches from the FTW show, Tom Lattimer emerged victorious against Drago, Samatha Starr and La Brava defeated Kamille and Natalia Markova, and Daisy Kill secured a win against Mike Orlando.
