NSIC Sets Viking Wrestling Schedule with Six Competitions
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Augustana University have announced a six-dual wrestling schedule for 2021.
The dual schedule has the Vikings competing three times at home inside the Elmen Center with three competitions on the road.
Augustana, entering its 18th season under the direction of former National Champion Jason Reitmeier, begins its season new NSIC associate member, Wisconsin-Parkside, on Jan. 7 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
After a visit to Minnesota State on Jan. 14, the Vikings make their home debut on Jan. 21 against perennial national-power St. Cloud State.
Augustana travels to Southwest Minnesota State on Jan. 28 and closes the regular season with a pair of home duals. First, the Vikings host Upper Iowa on Feb. 4 and close the regular season with MSU Moorhead on Feb. 11.
With a schedule now in place, Augustana will be finalizing plans in the near future for spectator attendance and changes to the fan experience. Decisions will continue to be driven by our commitment to the health and safety of all members of the Augustana community. Additional conference, region and state guidelines will also be reflected in plans, which will be communicated to all fans once finalized.
Competing against one opponent per weekend was instituted by the NSIC to help limit COVID-19 exposure. A regular season champion will be crowned based on win percentage from the six duals.
The NCAA postseason is slated for Feb. 28 for the NCAA Super Regionals and the National Championships March 12-13.
