Nick Khan, in his role as the President of WWE, recently provided an update to the WWE Universe regarding the company’s international premium live events. Speaking at the World Congress of Sports convention, Khan discussed the plans for WWE PLE’s moving forward.
He mentioned that the major shows such as WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money In The Bank will continue to be hosted in the United States and Canada. However, the goal is to expand and have other annual PLE’s held in international locations.
Reflecting on the decision, Khan shared, “We sat down together a few years ago and decided, so the big five premium live events … should be in the United States or Canada. All of the other events, the goal is to have them from international locations.” This strategic move aims to create a global impact and reach a wider audience.
Highlighting the significance of these international events, Khan emphasized, “There’s a halo effect on those big deals. Merchandise sales, relevancy goes up, and who knows — is the next Yao Ming of that country watching [WWE] and wanting to do it in 10 years.” By increasing the presence of WWE events worldwide, the company hopes to inspire future generations of talent and fans from different regions.
In the upcoming months, WWE has scheduled events like Backlash in France, King & Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia, Clash at the Castle in Scotland, and Bash in Berlin in Germany. These diverse locations will not only provide unique settings for the shows but also offer fans around the world the opportunity to experience WWE live events in their own countries.
The expansion of WWE PLE’s to international markets marks a significant step for the company in its global outreach efforts. As fans eagerly anticipate these upcoming events, WWE continues to push the boundaries and entertain audiences on a global scale. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and announcements as WWE continues to grow and evolve in the world of sports entertainment.
