According to a report by F4WOnline, Kairi Sane’s WWE contract has expired, making her a free agent.
The report notes that WWE wanted to renew her deal and have her return to the company but Sane did not want to live in the United States, nor travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sane, (real name Kairi Hojo), moved back to Japan in the summer of 2020 to be with her husband. This past February, Sane asked for permission to work at the Stardom Budokan Hall event in March, but her request was denied. It was further noted in the report that Stardom would like to bring Sane back, but there has been no further discussion or direction as the present.
Sane first signed with WWE in March 2017 and after winning the Mae Young Classic during that year. She is also a one-time NXT Women’s Champion. In 2019, she was called up to the WWE main roster, and won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships with Asuka.
Sane’s last match with WWE in July 2020, with a win over Bayley on Raw.
