Hiroshi Tanahashi from NJPW will miss upcoming shows due to injury.

Bad news for Hiroshi Tanahashi. The top superstar and newly named NJPW President is dealing with an ankle injury and will no longer be working the upcoming Sakura Genesis event. Not only that, the Ace has also been pulled from the New Japan Cup tournament series. Furthermore, his IWGP Global Championship matchup against Nic Nemeth has been delayed until further notice.
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that Hiroshi Tanahashi will be absent from the upcoming Sakura Genesis event and the New Japan Cup series. This decision has been made to allow Tanahashi to focus on his recovery from the ankle injury he sustained at New Beginning in Sapporo. Additionally, his highly anticipated IWGP Global Championship match against Nic Nemeth will be postponed to a later date.
The official statement from New Japan Pro-Wrestling reads:
Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
Following further examination on an ankle injury sustained at New Beginning in Sapporo, Hiroshi Tanahashi will be absent from the New Japan Cup series, as well as Sakura Genesis on April 6 to allow for a full recovery.
His previously announced IWGP Global Championship match will be delayed until a later date to be determined.
We apologize to fans looking forward to seeing Tanahashi wrestle and appreciate your understanding.
