Dustin Rhodes recently sat down for an interview with “INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet” to discuss all things pro wrestling.
Throughout the conversation, Dustin, also known as “The Natural,” shared his thoughts on various topics in the wrestling world.
Retiring after the Double or Nothing 2019 match with Cody Rhodes: Dustin revealed, “I was actually considering retirement after that match. When Cody surprised me with his emotional promo, it was a very powerful moment. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place, and we ended up hugging and crying. It was truly special.”
Thoughts on competing in his final match: Reflecting on his future in the ring, Dustin said, “I considered it last year, but I’m not ready yet. I need to have a serious conversation with myself and weigh the pros and cons. Maybe in two or three years.”
Speculations about Cody Rhodes leaving AEW: Dustin admitted, “I didn’t think Cody would leave, but I understand his decision. He bet on himself and it paid off. He’s thriving in AEW. It’s been an incredible journey for him.”
Differences in his second run in wrestling: Comparing his approach to Cody’s, Dustin noted, “Cody has more wisdom and business savvy. He studies the business and uses big words, unlike me. He’s a true superstar, always dressed in suits. I prefer comfort over style. But he’s doing a phenomenal job in AEW.”
Plans to leave AEW: When asked about his future with AEW, Dustin shared, “I’m happy where I am. AEW is a great place for me. The company is growing, and we have some of the best talent in the world. It’s a different style from WWE, and the talent is incredible.”
