Big E won the Intercontinental Championship on WWE Friday Night SmackDown
In the main event of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Big E challenged Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship. The match was set up after a backstage segment at the WWE TLC pay-per-view where Zayn insulted Big E.
This was a Lumberjack Match and they got involved in the match. The lumberjacks were Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, King Corbin, Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler, Akira Tozawa, Angel Garza, The Street Profits, Otis, Chad Gable, Drew Gulak, Lince Dorado, Apollo Crews, Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, and Kalisto.
Like most lumberjack matches, the heels helped out the heels and the faces helped their babyface friends. At one point, Zayn tried to escape the ring after a big brawl broke out but the lumberjacks caught up to him and they carried him to the ring.
Big E finished the match by hitting Zayn with a belly to belly, a running splash and the Big Ending to win the title. The show ended with Big E and the babyface lumberjacks celebrating as confetti fell from the ceiling.
This is Big E’s second reign as the Intercontinental Champion. His first reign was in 2013 and he won the title that time after defeating Curtis Axel.
