Big E gets new entrance and theme, Pat Patterson Tribute Match on WWE SmackDown
WWE held a Pat Patterson Tribute Match this week on Friday Night SmackDown. It was Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, and Big E vs. Dolph Ziggler, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Sami Zayn.
Big E had new theme music and he did a callback to his old entrance when he slapped his hands together with chalk. The original Intercontinental Title that was introduced in 1979 was positioned at ringside for this match.
The babyfaces won after several near fall sequences that may remind some of the Ricky Steamboat-Randy Savage roll-ups from WrestleMania III. It was a very good match and a nice tribute to Patterson.
E, Mysterio, and Bryan took out the heels after the match. Ziggler took the finishers from all three of them.
