Backstage news on why WWE pulled Pat McAfee from NXT TV
During the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Pat McAfee being pulled from WWE TV. Meltzer made it clear that there is no heat on him.
Garrett Gonzales asked Dave Meltzer if he was pulled off TV so they could preserve him and not overexpose him. Meltzer said, “It’s probably what you said. I don’t think they want to rely on Pat McAfee to be all over the show…”
Meltzer added, “I just think they don’t want to bring him in every single week. You know it’s better in smaller doses…”
Meltzer made it clear that there are no issues with McAfee behind-the-scenes. He said, “He did nothing wrong, there was no heat. I was told that specifically. There’s no heat on either side. It’s just they wanted him off for a little while. That’s what I was told.”
McAfee has been widely praised for his promo work and for being good in the ring for someone with very little experience. Pat McAfee last wrestled at the last NXT TakeOver show and it looks like we won’t see him again until the new year.
