Backstage news on why Seth Rollins is taking time off from WWE

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the decision to end the Seth Rollins-Rey Mysterio feud on WWE Friday Night SmackDown. The news about Rollins taking time off was reported by Ringside News.

Meltzer on Rollins’ taking time off: “Becky Lynch is about to give birth within a week or two. That’s why they blew off the Rey thing this week and they’re gonna do the Seth Rollins and Murphy match next week and then the Survivor Series and probably after Survivor Series, maybe a week after [he will stick around]. He’s gonna be gone probably until the first of the year maybe. I don’t know if there’s a definite date but that’s out and that story is out and that story is true.”

WrestlingNews.co was told that the Murphy-Mysterio story will continue in some form. At one point, there was talk of a wedding with Murphy turning on the family. That could have changed but we heard that a few days ago and they had already known by that time that Rollins was going to need time off.

On SmackDown, Mysterio defeated Rollins after Murphy turned on Rollins. The family then accepted Murphy.
